Sikorsky Field Improvements, New Gas Station, AvalonBay on Inland Wetlands Agenda

The Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission will meet at 7 p.m. tonight at the Stratford Fire Department headquarters building (pictured) at 2750 Main St. The meeting is open to the public.

A staff report on flight field improvements at Sikorsky Aircraft and an application for a new automobile service station are items on the agenda of the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Fire Department headquarters building across from Town Hall.

In addition, the commission might meet in a closed executive session to discuss its legal strategy regarding the recent Appellate Court decision on the AvalonBay Communities apartment complex proposal for Cutspring Road.

The Appellate Court recently ruled in AvalonBay’s favor, overruling the IWWC’s denial of a wetlands permit application. The commission tonight might authorize its attorney to appeal to the Connecticut Supreme Court.

The staff report concerns an application to repave part of the tarmac and make other flight field improvements at Sikorsky Aircraft, 6900 Main St.

The Hunter Development Company LLC has applied for a permit for demolition and construction of a gasoline service station and retail convenience store at 7294-7296 Main Street.

Also on the agenda is a bond release request for ARS Partners Warner Hill LLC for a multi-unit, detached housing complex in a regulated area on Warner Hill Road.
