Sikorsky Employee Tells 9/11 Story; Share Yours Here

In four days, it will be 10 years since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. Orange resident and Sikorsky Aircraft employee shares his 9/11 story below. Tell us yours in the comments section.

Matt Musante, like many other Americans, was at work when he heard a plane had struck the Twin Towers.

"I had a vision of a small Piper Cub [airplane with a one-man flight crew]," said Musante, an Orange resident who was working at Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford on Sept. 11, 2001. "I imagined a little, tiny plane hanging out the window. No one said it was a jumbo jet."

"Then I saw the second plane hit and I knew it was a terrorist attack," he said.

Sikorsky Aircraft employs a lot of people from New York and most of them rushed home after seeing the images on the TV screen, said Musante.

Musante said his initial reaction was shock.

"You think, 'How the heck could that happen?'" he said. "But then you understand it could happen."

Musante said after the terrorist attacks on 9/11 Americans are more vigilant and point out strange behavior with less hesitation.
