Severe Weather Possible Today, Tonight

Though damaging winds and heavy rainfall are the main threats, 'an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out,' the National Weather Service reports for Southern Connecticut.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the Connecticut coastline.

The alert equates to a "moderate risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening...damaging winds and heavy rainfall...large hail is possible as well."

The NWS also warns that "an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out." Any storms rolling through today or tonight are expected to leave the area before 10 a.m. Friday, according to the service.
