Search Called Off When Kayakers Show Up Safe and Sound

Stratford and Milford firefighters were launching emergency boats when the kayakers called their families Tuesday evening.

A search was called off Tuesday by the and Milford fire department emergency boats for missing kayakers, who fortunately didn’t turn out to have died like .

The Connecticut Post reported that the two kayakers, who launched from Silver Sands Beach, were overdue when they called their parents after returning to their vehicle.

In April, the state forensic laboratory determined that human remains discovered in the Housatonic River off Stratford belonged to Michael Krupa of Middletown, who disappeared three years ago while kayaking near Charles Island.
