Obituary for Sophie Skau, 90-Year-Old Crash Victim

The Stratford resident and Czech native was killed in a car accident last week.

 

Sophie Rusnak Skau, of Stratford, the beloved wife of the late Robert Skau  in St. Vincent’s Medical Center.

Sophie was born on Feb. 10, 1921 in Prague, Czechoslovakia and was the daughter of the late George and Catherine Rusnak. She worked at the Avco-Lycoming Company in their cafeteria department for several years. Sophie is survived by her son Robert G. Skau and companion Johanna of Trumbull, two daughters Judith Steer of Stratford and Barbara K. Lacko and husband Stephen of Middleburgh, NY, one sister Johanna Belloff of Wolcott, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her home care giver Richard Steer.

Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday Jan. 3 officiated by Rev. Andrew Marus, followed by interment in St. Michael’s cemetery. The  on 2220 Main St. has been entrusted with funeral arrangements. The obituary can also be found on the funeral home's website.
