Multi-Car Accident Closes Merritt Northbound

Route 15 North is closed between exits 52 and 53 after an accident involving three to five cars.

Traffic is starting to crawl past the scene of the accident. The right lane remains closed.

According to the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the congestion on Route 15 northbound starts at exit 48.

Fire and emergency officials are on the scene of a multi-car accident on the Merritt Parkway that has closed down the roadway between exits 52 and 53.

According to Fire Marshal Brian Lampart, the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. and involves three to five vehicles, one of which might have rolled over.

Lampart also said there were reports that a patient was lying on the roadway.

's Engine 2 and 4 are responding, as well as an ambulance from Trumbull's department, Lampart said.
