Jonathan Frid Also Among Actors at Stratford's Shakespeare Theater

The British actor is best known for portraying vampire Barnabas Collins on TV's "Dark Shadows."

Add the actor who portrayed a fondly remembered ghoul on television to the list of those who acted on the stage of the Shakespeare Theater in , which the town is still .

According to an article in The Daily Telegraph in Great Britain, the Canadian actor Jonathan Frid, who died on April 13, appeared in a Shakespearean production in Stratford during the late-1950s, around the time that he appeared in Henry IV, Part 2 on Broadway.

His biography on IMDB says he performed with Katherine Hepburn in "Much Ado About Nothing" on the Stratford stage.

The Telegraph noted that Frid was one of the first to portray a vampire sympathetically when he played Barnabas Collins in the gothic television serial "Dark Shadows" from 1967 to 1971.

Frid makes a cameo role in the Tim Burton feature film version of "Dark Shadows" that will open in theaters next weekend.
