House of Heroes Volunteers Help Veterans in Hamden and Stratford

The volunteers did home repairs for the World War II veterans.

Teams of volunteers found a constructive way to honor war veterans on Memorial Day weekend by in and .

According to the Connecticut Post, the projects were organized through the House of Heroes program, and benefited Rudy Pistey of Stratford and Frederick Miller of Hamden, as well as Maura L. Rettman of Meriden, who was hurt while serving in the U.S. Army in Germany in 1977.

William May, chairman of the Connecticut House of Heroes chapter, told the Post the goal is to increase the number of veterans each year who benefit from the program.
