High Wind Gusts, Rain Wednesday Into Thursday

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Stratford and surrounding areas, to be in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday. Gusts Wednesday night could reach 60 mph, the service warns.

Last week it was freezing temperatures. This week it's the wind.

Here's what to look out for weather-wise over the next 24 hours, according to the National Weather Service's forecast for Stratford (as of 10 p.m. Wednesday).

Wednesday night: Showers, with thunderstorms also possible after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Areas of fog before midnight. Steady temperature around 53. Windy, with a south wind 25 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Thursday: A chance of showers before 9 a.m. Partly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 42 by 5 p.m. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Thursday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind 16 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
