Center Offers Outlet to Local Hindus

The Hindu Cultural Center held a picnic Sunday at Boothe Memorial Park.

Members of the Hindu Cultural Center held a picnic at Boothe Memorial Park Sunday.

The organization -- with headquarters at 96 Chapel St. in Stratford -- provides a cultural and religious outlet for Hindus living in Southern Connecticut.

The group's goals, according to its website, are:

  • Organize social, cultural and religious events celebrating the various Indian festivals and holidays.
  • Promote awareness of the ‘Hindu way of life’ within ourselves and our neighbors.
  • Develop learning programs and discussion groups of cultural and religious significance.
  • Develop community service projects to promote the spirit of giving in our neighboring communities.
