Bridgeport Pursues Water Taxi Link to Pleasure Beach
City would use federal funds for water transport for visitors to the Bridgeport end of Long Beach West.
While officials on Long Beach West, Bridgeport is moving forward on plans to increase access to Pleasure Beach, the Park City’s end of the sand spit island.
An article in the Connecticut Post said Bridgeport is hoping to use a $1.9 million federal earmark approved in 2009 for a two-part project to repair transport piers and provide water taxi service from the mainland to Pleasure Beach, once the home of a thriving amusement park, public beach and local theater.
The project would also include repairs to the beach pavilion, which would provide restrooms and information boards for visitors.

Access to Pleasure Beach was severed in 1995 by a fire that destroyed the old wooden bridge from the mainland.
