Three months after a judge ruled his hiring as EMS director was done illegally, Stratford Mayor John A. Harkins said Monday that Philip Onofrio will be leaving his post at the head of Stratford EMS.
"He has taken another position," Harkins said at last night's Town Council meeting. "It was an offer he couldn't refuse."
Harkins said Onofrio was offered a job "somewhere else" and the town will be seeking a replacement as soon as possible. The mayor lauded Onofrio for increasing morale at Stratford EMS, which has seen volunteer hours grow under his leadership.
"The cream does rise to the top," Harkins said.
