Today Christopher Shays, Republican candidate for United States Senate released this statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision on Obamacare.
"The Supreme Court's decision to uphold the constitutionality of the individual healthcare mandate just reaffirms the need to send someone to the United States Senate who has the ability to repeal this destructive law. Obamacare is one of the worst government infringements on our individual liberties and personal freedoms in my generation. This was a power grab of the U.S. health care system by Chris Murphy, a Democratic Congress and the Obama Administration.
The Supreme Court ruled that the President’s healthcare plan is constitutional based on the fact that the individual mandate is a tax, in spite of the fact that the Democrat-controlled Congress and the Administration repeatedly insisted it was not a tax. This hypocrisy is why Americans have a right to be fed up with Washington.
Obamacare is increasing health insurance premiums, reducing patient choice, threatening the quality of care, and impeding medical progress. On top of that, six years of Obamacare ‘benefits’ are paid for with ten years of taxes.
Obamacare takes $500 billion away from Medicare, a vital program for our senior citizens that was already heading for insolvency, and uses it for other purposes.
Now more than ever we need experienced leaders who can navigate the process so that we can repeal the President’s so-called “Affordable Healthcare Act.”
The federal government does have a role in healthcare, such as Medicare, Medicaid, community-based healthcare programs, and providing healthcare to veterans, and active military. But a federal mandate was always the wrong approach. We need a patient/doctor approach that promotes both quality care and cost savings and allows citizens within each state to determine the kind of healthcare programs they want. The right direction for healthcare reform includes tort reform, healthcare pooling and purchase across state lines.
If I’m elected to the United States Senate I am determined to repeal Obamacare, and I have the experience and knowledge to do it.”
This is true because Obama ultimately did not care what was in the 2,700 page law, but just that it passed and gave him his signature 'accomplishment.' He does not "care" that medical care will be rationed AND more expensive, that the middle class will bear the brunt of the TAX increases and some 20 NEW TAXES** and that the budget DEFICITS will be blown up instead of decreased! Obama does not even "CARE" that unemployment is so high, except that he knows he probably won't be re-elected with it over 8 %!! If he "cared" he would give up his ideology that the only JOBS he is concerned about are his own, those of his UNION campaign donors, and those of his CRONY capitalist friends, such as in Solyndra!! If he weren't so incompetent, the economy would be doing better, thus there would be more private sector jobs, which is the KEY to people being able to take care of themselves. The GOP understands that, as well as the Principles of our supposedly "Free Enterprise" system, in which the government does NOT get involved "picking winners and losers" as Obama and the DEMS have done with OBAMATAX!!
Unemployment is nowhere near 18%. I don't know what world you live in, but 18% is what unemployment was during The Great Depression. The current unemployment is 8.1%. I never said your car isn't fast. And sorry, I got your type of paint wrong. But you also just told me your "American" car has foreign parts. And I have no idea how you twisted my post to help your point but no, I'm telling you that the cars you say are horrible foreign cars are some of the most American made cars and you are essentially badmouthing the very people you think you're supporting. Also you refusing to post your speeds implies that you did that on a public road. Again, for a shop owner, you're giving yourself a horrible reputation. I enjoy cars, and I would have loved to have a discussion with you about them, but I would rather that conversation be accurate and not based on these fallacies.
BS TOYOTAS they SUCK just gave you examples. Toyota has had more recalls and dangerous ones to boot. So drive you CRAPPY Japanese cars i dont give a dam and hold you chest out to some auto workers and tell them they SUCK and the cars they build are crap. I dint give a DAM actually and once again anyone that knows what a good car is at the prices TOYOTA gets for the OVERATE CAMRY CALLED A LEXUS would buy a BENZ. Case closed. I am DUN buy all the garbage the foreign country flood our shores with . But dont complain to me when UNEMPLOYMENT IS DOUBLE DIGITS. Just look in the MIRROR!!
Have fun with your cars.
Your GOP knows so much about economics that Bush took a balanced budget and turned it into the biggest deficit up until that time. I can do without that kind of fiscal conservancy. Why don't you list for us all of the taxes which have gone up for you under Obama? No picking of "winners and losers" you say? Who do you think started TARP? Who do you think started the auto bailout??? Hint; he's from Texas, is none too bright and does not speak all that well. Oh, and I'd recommend you thank all unions in this country. The created something called the MIDDLE CLASS. Ever heard of the 40 hour week, weekends off, sick leave, worker's rights, safe working conditions, the end of child labor and sweat shops???
I still am honored to say you were there for us all those times. I'll try and connect in a week or so, and best of luck sir. 20 years ago before politics changed, some for the better, some for the worse, it wouldn't even be a question, we would be calling you Senator Shays

6:03 am on Friday, July 6, 2012 AFTER http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c209/tfalconier/DSCF0405.jpg Got a cactus for the shop by the way. That remark is typical from a JA LIBERAL AND MADE ME MAD. 49 years doing this. And some SH tells me i dint know the difference between a cactus and a BMW. Here is MY WS 6 BIRD fully restored and powered by a LT1 turbo 421 RWH 528. It probably would have been nice to talk cars with you. I was thinking about that last night. Actually life is to short for this BS. I am a business man with different feelings of government intrusion in my business and life. I worked all my life for the things i have abd i have no regrets. God was good to me. Gave me talent a big mouth and a no BS stance on free loaders. I do believe under different circumstances BS with you over cars would have been nice. I LOVE CARS.
-------- Unemployment? The "official" unemployment rate may be 8.1%% However, the same people who question government, accept their #s. Unemployment among black males / youths are higher than most. ------- Mr. Falonieri appears to relate to old cars, like some people relate to cats or dogs. I can recognize he and others are angry, however I can not follow his logic, nor figure out what his specific point is or points are. I too will post off topic. However, I try to place foundation or contextual facts, where readers can connect dots, per causation. Unfortunately emotions can make it difficult to write clearly about how x + y = z or a + b = c, using simple and understandable terms. -
Capitalism is a system in which the people who provide the capital ($$ or materials) own the means of producing/distributing goods and services, and make the decisions about the business, and reap the profits/or LOSSES according to the success of their labors and/or investments. Socialism is a system wherein the means of producing/distributing goods is owned collectively, or by a centralized government which controls the economy. That control comes from a dictator or bureaucrats. Before our nation was born, in Jamestown the immigrants tried socialism, and it FAILED miserably! Some 2/3 of the settlers died in the first winter, because communal ownership tries to ignore and defy basic facts of human nature and motivations--the most basic of which is that if one does not have to WORK to eat, many people are lazy and won't work!!
Nor do you take into accoun the fact that the "Individual Mandate" which the Right has gone hysterical over, is in fact a CONSERVATIVE creation, intended to ensure PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY, a trait which I thought was of paramount importance and is anything but "Socialistic". I'd be interested in hearing what your solutioin is to the dramatically escalating health care costs not to mention the 50 Million Americans who lack insurance and thus decent health care??? You also might want to ask yourself why virtually ever other advanced nation has either true "Socialized" medicine or a program similar to that of the Mandate. The GOP had 8 years during the Bush presidency to come up with their own plan and they did nothing other than a drug plan which is completely UNFUNDED. So much for GOP fiscal responsibility.
I have over 1000 posts on here....point to one that means im a racist and ill reveal my name and address. Fail to do so, and simply fall into that same messed up category of people that is so prevelent.: that is when you cant argue intelligently, you call people names. Highly unintelligent...but it what paul d, defaults to each time. Uh oh...i cant controvert the argument with anything smart, so ill call him joyce and try to exit.
Obama thought there are 57 states! Smart? Or dumb? He knew prof henry gates was correct and cambridge police wrong! Then had to apologize to the white officer over a beer. Smart? Obamacare is a huge entitlement program. It creates bigger government. You assign tasks brad....here is your assignment...where does the public aector outperform private sector in a reasonable comparison? So why is bigger govt your preference? Answer...because your primitive brain is in gear! Haha
"James Madison warned against efforts to confuse and obfuscate with a deluge of words. 'It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; or that they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man who knows what the law is today, can guess what it will be tomorrow.' "The Founders also warned against the temptations of the welfare state in which government uses beneficent intentions to justify an assault on the constitutional prohibitions that protect the people’s liberties. "Samuel Adams specifically addressed the constitutional barriers to redistributing wealth. 'The Utopian schemes of leveling (re-distribution of wealth) and a community of goods (central ownership of the means of production and distribution) are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the Crown. These ideas are arbitrary and despotic, and in our government, unconstitutional.' "Skousen writes, 'One of the worst sins of government, according to the Founders, was the exercise of coercive taxing powers to take property from one group and give it to another.'”... http://www.whatwouldthefoundersthink.com/the-five-thousand-year-leap-what-we-seem-to-have-forgotten
Talking with people who have tried to understand the Act, the argument I hear is not against the mandate taken alone, but against the control of minimum standards, covering people who don't, won't, or can't cover themselves, the cost is too high, and the business-killing taxes. If there is an individual mandate, it should, like insurance, follow the individual and not be the employer's burden. Covering 50 million more people, not necessarily Americans, is not affordable. We have to compete globally; we can't provide jobs for everyone now.The Act still leaves 20 million people receiving benefits at emergency rooms, the same care everyone receives now. How do we afford the benefit, compete globally, create jobs, incentivize work, and reward people who contribute to the whole? Should parity be the goal? Bush? Fiscal responsibility? No, and that is part of the problem.
The minute Reich Wing whackos like you start in with the Commie rant, you lose what little credibility you might have had. As for "Libs poking their noses in everyone's business" it's certainly not Liberals trying to enact draconian laws against woman and their reproductive freedoms, by mandating invasive vaginal probes before a woman can have an abortion. It's not the Liberals that tell people who they can or cannot marry and are constantly prying into other peoples bedrooms and trying to write laws based upon their own personal religious convictions. And lastly, the "American Haters" you mention are the very same people who saved our domestic auto industry when the Right was only too happy to sell them down the river.
Willardo was Pro Choice, Pro Gay Marriage, Pro Gays serving openly in the military, Pro Gun Control, Pro Stem Cell research, Acknowledged Global Warming, Supported "Path to Citzenship" for undocumented aliens, opposed the Bush tax cuts, lied about being gun ownership and being a hunter, spoke out against many Reagan policies, termed himself a "Progressive" and refused to sign Nazi Grover Norquest anti-tax pledge. And now overnight, this guy is "Severely Conservative". When running against Teddy Kennedy he told the Gay community that he would govern "to the left of Kennedy". And you think I'm going to take anything this guy does seriously?
Lack of money didn't stop President Cheney & Vice President Bush from starting the most unnecessary shooting war in our history. They projected a cost of 40 Billion. That's right, 40 Billion. I think we've slightly exceeded that amount but no one on the Right said to stop the war, did they? Give more tax breaks to the uber rich? Sure, no problem. And after all this the Right says "We're broke, what to do"? No problem, we'll balance the budget on the backs of the poor, the elderly, the disabled, and every other vulnerable member of our society. You know why? Cause these people don't have fancy lobbyists on K Street, buying off senators and congressman with huge campaign donations. And now, that's the Citizens United, it's going to be 100 worse than before. The Right always has an excuse for not helping those at the bottom of society, it's against the Constituion, it will make them dependent, it's morally wrong and god knows how many other reasons I've heard over the years. But they never have a problem lending a helping hand to rich and to corporate America. More tax subsidies for Exxon/Mobil, one of the wealthiest corporations in the world, sure, no problem.
What do you call it when the Federal Government redistributes a disproportionally larger percentage of money to the RED States, the very states which badmouth "Big Government" and tend to suffer from worse poverty. This is like all the GOP Congressman who savaged the Stimulus Program calling Socialism and far worse only to show up at ribbon cutting ceremonies in their own districts, seeking to take credit for the infrastructure projects that the Stimulus make possible. Now that takes some real brass and the GOP certainly has no shortage of it.
Vote your conscience in November.
You claim the government disproportionately (?)redistibutes wealth to red states. Ok. Ive read on some blogs and politico sights this stat....but can you tell me definitively what dollars are included in those numbers? What type of "redistributive " system is in place that results in red states in getting "disproportionately " larger share of federal dollars. Thanks. Or are you just blindly regurgitating facts that you like, but do not understand where the numbers derive from.? (To be clear, if a submarine is built in groton ct, are those federal dollars counted in "your" calculation? How about soldiers at Fort Bragg? Red state dollars? Or are you counting just entitlement money? And by disproportionate can you elaborate. Do you mean per capita? Or that its net dollar outflow? And if you dont know, please say " i dont know" rather than ignore the question so as not to cede a point. Thanks.
