Two Roads to Honor Late Stratford Official
Stratford brewery invites locals to join them in celebrating the life of Bruce Alessie, a longtime civil servant who passed away last year.
Stratford’s Two Roads Brewing Company is set to announce a beer in honor of Bruce Alessie, a longtime civil servant for the town of Stratford who passed away in January of 2012.
“Join Two Roads in celebrating the life of Stratford’s Bruce Alessie this Thursday (Oct. 10) at 5:30 p.m.,” reads an announcement posted on Stratford Patch.
For more than a dozen years, Alessie served as the town’s special projects coordinator. When he died, friend and colleague Neil Sherman, then-chairman of the town’s Economic Development Commission, called his passing an “enormous blow” to Stratford.

“Everywhere I turned, people talked of their personal interaction with him,” Sherman wrote, “at their laughter while being with him, at their awe in his ability to achieve, and at their admiration for his remarkable shoulder-to-shoulder concept of human relationships.
“I don’t think I have ever met a person like Bruce Alessie and I had grown to love him and to feel that our partnership for economic development for the town of Stratford could create great things for this community.”

At a mayoral debate earlier this month, Stratford Mayor John A. Harkins said Two Roads would be coming out with a beer in memory of Alessie.
