McCoy's Pub Unveils New Menu

The new items are inspired by a recent trip to Chicago.

McCoy's Pub last week unveiled a new menu inspired by a trip to Chicago in September.

The voyage cross country was to check out a stop on the Bar Rescue Tour, a reality series on Spike TV similar to the Food Network's Restaurant Impossible.

McCoy's Pub, however, was not seeking to be rescued but rather gain knowledge from some of the show's staff.

"[Bar Rescue's producer] Jon Taffer is known in the industry as an expert in bar science," said Glenn Zuklie, the owner of McCoy's Pub.

Zuklie said he went out to several restaurants with Taffer and his staff, which included Brian Duffy, a prominent Irish chef in pubs across the country.

Through talks with Taffer and Duffy, as well as a visit to a nearby US Foods plant, Zuklie started to gather ideas for new menu items. And on Friday, Oct. 19, those ideas were inserted into the new fall menu at McCoy's. (The menu is attached to this article as a PDF in the photo gallery.)

The new items inspired by the Chicago trip are: smoked mozzarella cheese and roasted tomato empanadas; baby spinach salad with house made apple cider vinaigrette, smoked bacon, red onions, and parmesan cheese; house smoked ribs; whiskey marsala chicken.

"We want [our menu] to have that 'wow' factor," Zuklie said. "It's a different experience than any other Irish pub."

Does the new menu come along with a new chef. Loved to stop for lunch and dinner, but quality of chef needs to be evaluated too.

I am sorry but the tiny place smells like serious urine. I walked in and saw about 15 patrons who's ages where very questionable for legally drinking alcohol. Dangers to Stratford Youth: Whats very dangerous about these failing bars is that when sales go down, the risk of the permittee to sell to underage minors grows exponentially when the bills keep piling up. Zoning Nightmare: Allowing 200 drunk people to fill the small parking lot on St Patricks Day is something Stratford should have never allowed.

@OpportunistWatch - wow, you are a miserable person. I am not a huge fan of McCoy's, but I thank them for helping the downtown area stay somewhat busy. All of OpportunistWatch's claims are not proven with facts. Every bar sells to underage kids - it's impossible not to. There also has not been a major car accident at this location. So everyone - let's just ignore his miserable attitude.

Well, as the owner of McCoy's Pub, we check Identification for all our patrons. We do also employee a guest host, at the door, who checks identifications brining additional jobs to Stratford. If you saw 15 patrons that were underage, I would hope you would not wait till a later date to address this alarming and concerning situation. I would have called the police and the State Liquor Commission. I welcome you to come down any night, and would be glad to teach you the ways we prevent underage drinking and promote responsible drinking. When was the last time you were in my establishment "OpportunistWatch" ? I beg to differ that it does not smell like urine. If we are so bad, then why are we always busy? Secondly we are not failing, we have grown over 20-25% each quarter, so I would not consider that a "failing" establishment I educate myself and my staff to current trends in the market for hospitality. It goes a long way when trying to generate return customers. We have a wonderful crowd here! Last but not least- Check with your local town and state regulations. Since your anonymous voice is hiding behind an online name, I can't tell you to your face. We had all our permits and state licenses for that event and will continue year after year with Stratford's support. SLAINTE!

Wow that is a miserable person! I was @ McCoy's last weekend, the place was packed and surely didn't smell like urine. The food was wonderful, run runner drink was delicious and the staff were pleasant. The restaurant is always busy... failing... I think not! No professional 'by the books' restaurant owner would allow underage drinking, especially glenn zuklie! OpportunistWatch is simply jealous that he could never make the amount of money mccoys did on st pattys day! Cheers to a great pub

The new items on the menu sound great. I also am looking forward to my next visit to try them out. As with your usual menu, it will be hard to choose which item to order!
