Stratford Pizzeria Launches Campaign for Hurricane Relief

Proceeds will go to benefit American Red Cross, according to the following press release.

Fat Sammy's Pizzeria, a New York Style pizza shop in Stratford, Conn., is home to the most hotly contested election since Bush v. Gore.

For the month of November, the shop will become a political battlefield where two pizzas will battle for supremacy and the votes of Stratford residents.

The incumbent -- The Feal Good Foundation Pizza; topped with olives, peppers, garlic, mushrooms, broccoli, mozzarella, and mama's tomato sauce, finds itself in battle with the aspirational challenger, The Meatpacking District; meatball, sausage, bacon, pepperoni, mozzarella, and mama's tomato sauce.

In hope of supporting some of the local residents negatively affected by Hurricane Sandy, proceeds from purchases will go to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief.

Said owner Sam Nicolia, "Food has the unique characteristics of being curative and communal. Being in Stratford, we have met so many individuals with families and homes devastated by Hurricane Sandy. We want to be productive and help.

"The best way we can assist the efforts and raise funds is with our product. When people come in to purchase and 'vote' for their pizza, proceeds will be donated to The American Red Cross, but since this particular disaster hits so close to home, they are directly helping a neighbor or a friend."

"We understand the election will be close, but we feel the electoral toppage is in our favor," Incumbent Feal Good asserted. "Connecticut residents have the unique freedom to pile vegetables a top a mountain of mozzarella, and I will fight every day to keep that freedom in tact."

The campaign has become nasty in it's first day of the election cycle.

"We want people to know the truth. We want them to know exactly who their elected officials are," responded Meatpacking District after releasing a negative advertisement tying Feal Good to bad breath from garlic.

Residents will be able to "vote" for their candidate each time the particular pizza is ordered for the month of November. The pizzeria has released a campaign video available for viewing on their official website and YouTube.
