Booth House of Flowers Going Out of Business

The Stratford flower shop's last day will be Nov. 17, according to a post on Facebook.

According to a Nov. 7 post on the Booth House of Flowers Facebook page, the business near the corner of Nichols and Barnum will have its last day on Saturday, Nov. 17.

"Sad day here," the post reads. "It is with a VERY heavy heart that I am annnouncing that Booth House of Flowers will be closing up shop."

A going out of business sale started Nov. 8 and runs through Nov. 26. Everything except fresh flowers and plants is 50 percent off. Christmas-themed items are available, as well as some of the shop's furnishings and fixtures. Cash only, according to the Facebook post.

"So, so sad to see this chapter end, but when one door closes, another opens, right???" the post concludes.

Stratford Patch will be reaching out to Booth House of Flowers for a full-length feature.

It's always sad to see a business close, especially a "mom and pop" operation. Thanks to the owners of Booth House of Flowers for many years of beautification through their flowers and plants. Good luck on the next chapter of your lives.

Thanks to all the great economic rules, regulations & incentives from the local, state & federal government. High taxes, Higher taxes & HIGHER taxes and only $200,000 owed by everyone under 158 before they even attend college. N0bama & MAlloy are doing are great job, protecting their jobs. Blame it on anyone else.

I remember drawing the pans for that little addition you put on in the back. I was just out of high school and the builder hired me to draw them so he could submit them to town hall. it was about 30 years ago or more.

Many fond memories here. When my mom passed on, I wanted lilacs in her bouquet because they were her favorite flower. Booth didn't have any fresh lilacs in the store, so Alice brought in some from her own yard just to make my mom's last service special. I will never forget the personal service and wonderful atmosphere of Booth Flowers. They will be greatly missed.

I found out the "hard way" when I went to make a purchase and saw the sign posted in early December. I hope the owners check these comments and will know how grateful their customers are for their beautiful work and heightened sensitivity to making each occasion a special occasion. Here's one more story... After calling all stores throughout Fairfield County with a special request, it was only Booth Flowers who could accommodate my request. My mother was a supporter of all things French and when she recently passed away I was looking for french flags to put graveside. You can imagine American flags are plentiful, but no one could sell me a french flag; EXCEPT Booth Flowers who at no extra charge made me a french flag using available resources in the store without any advanced notice. The tears on my face that day were mixed with sadness at losing my mother, but also with gratitude to Booth Flowers for assisting me in creating not only the best bouquet of flowers I'd ever seen, but adorned with a French flag, which meant the world to me. If anyone hears info about a new location or service the owners might start up; please post! Inquiring minds would like to know. THANK YOU BOOTH FLOWERS!! Mary Young, Stratford
