'Prolific Works' On Display at Stratford Library Through March 31

Meg Murphy is a Stratford resident and artist whose work entitled Prolific Works is currently on exhibit at the Stratford Library for the month of March. Prolific Works is a collection of colorful abstract collages.

Ms. Murphy began her studies of the arts in 1979 at the Silvermine School of Art, where like most students she completed coursework including the fundamentals of drawing, ceramics, sculpture and such.

She attained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Suny Purchase and began to teach at the Side by Side community program in Norwalk, CT. Today, Meg is currently in her 14th year of teaching at Weston, CT’s Hurlbutt Elementary School.

Meg began exhibiting her work in 1980 and has since been featured in more than 60 gallery shows. Her works have included abstract collage, clay, metal sculpture, photography and stained glass. She has won numerous accolades and has been commissioned for various pieces of art.

Aside from being a talented and successful artist, Meg began a horticultural consulting business in 1987, called TLC. She enjoys creating aesthetically pleasing corporate and residential environments through plant arrangements and design. She has been recognized for her talents in this field as well, having won the Stratford’s Gorgeous Gardens a number of times.

The Prolific Works exhibit is free and open to the public during normal library hours; Monday-Thursday: 10-8, Friday & Saturday: 10-5 and Sunday: 1-5.  The art exhibit is on display until March 31st and is located in the Main Lobby of the Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street.
