Festival! Stratford Sneak Peek: The Players at Putney Gardens

Part four of the 8-part story series previewing the upcoming arts festival puts the spotlight on a local theatre group called The Players at Putney Gardens. Festival executive producer Jeffrey Lapham tells us more.

The Players at Putney Gardens

The Players at Putney Gardens is Stratford's only resident Shakespeare company. They were originally founded in 1992, only a few years after the final performance on the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre stage.

The beautiful Sunken Garden at Boothe Memorial Park is the marvelous space they now call home, thanks to the Boothe Park Commission and Stratford's recreation department.

The Players are performers and directors from all over the local area. Although The Players at Putney Gardens is not a professional company, they are experienced artists who will offer a delightful evening outdoors under the stars, and we’re thrilled to have them exhibit a “best of” performance under our tent at the Festival!

The Players at Putney Gardens can be seen performing at the 6th annual Festival! Stratford on Thursday, Aug. 11, at 8 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 19, at 8 p.m.
