Books Over Coffee at the Library

A discussion of the remarkable true story, In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer.  The program was scheduled in January but was postponed due to inclement weather.  “Books Over Coffee” is hosted by Stratford educator and author Kathleen Faggella.

In My Hands: Memories of a Holocaust Rescuer is Irena Gut Opdyke’s fascinating memoir about her early life (at age 19) working in a Nazi Major’s household while hiding Jewish friends in his basement.  The true story is the basis for the critically acclaimed new play, “Irena’s Vow”, currently onstage at Stratford’s Square One Theatre Company.  Actress Peggy Nelson of Hamden, who will portray Irena in the play, will be the special guest at the book discussion.

Participants are invited to bring a bag lunch to the program and coffee and tea is also served
