'Annie's Favorite' in Library's April Exhibit

Stratford artist presents original local photography.

“Annie’s Favorites,” a collection of original color photography taken by Stratford resident Ann Stockman from settings around Stratford, will be the April exhibit at the Stratford library.

The exhibit is free and open to the public and one of many art displays offered on an annual basis at the library.

Library patrons who have had the pleasure of searching for an obscure library book and finding it exactly where it’s supposed to be can thank Ann Stockman, a senior page at the library.

For the past 14 years she has sorted and shelved all library materials, including books, magazines, cds and videos.  She’s often seen maneuvering a shelving cart across library floors while gladly assisting patrons who need help in locating materials.

Her photography exhibit features Stratford area landscapes, floral and nature photos.  The exhibit also includes a playful section entitled “Where In the Stratford Are We?” that challenges viewers to locate the site in the photo.

Another section has a collection of photos that are grouped around the word “ways.”

Outside the library Stockman is very active in community work.  A Stratford resident for 28 years, she volunteers at Special Olympics, Stratford Greensweep and C.A.R.E. (Citizens Addressing Racial Equity).

She is also a mentor in the school system and a literacy volunteer.  In addition to photography, Stockman enjoys keyboard and guitar playing, painting, dancing, fishing and bowling.

Viewing hours for “Annie’s Favorites” are Monday-Thursday: 10-8, Friday-Saturday: 10-5 and Sunday: 1-5.

The art exhibit will continue through April 30 and is located in the Main Lobby of the Stratford Library, 2203 Main Street.
