UPDATES: Winter Storm Warning in Effect for Stratford
"Travel will be extremely dangers due to significant show and ice accumulations," the National Weather Service cautioned in their report.

The Stratford Public School District will be closed on Wednesday.

An alternate side of the street barking ban is in effect for all of Stratford. Residents are asked to park on the “odd” side of the street, or to get their vehicles off the roads, wherever possible, to allow town crews to clear roads of snow during and after the impending winter storm.
In addition, due to the expected storm, all town buildings will open Wednesday at 10 a.m. And all non-essential employees are to report to work at 10 a.m., as well.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's office announced a short time ago that he will partially activate the state’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at midnight tonight to monitor storm conditions across the state and prepare for the heavy snow forecasted to begin overnight and continue into the late afternoon Wednesday.

“After speaking with emergency management officials and assessing the current forecast, I am calling for the partial activation of the EOC tonight to better coordinate a rapid response to any problems that may arise during the height of the storm,” Malloy said. “Beginning early tomorrow morning, this storm is forecasted to produce very heavy snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain causing low visibility and deteriorating driving conditions. I am urging everyone to exercise caution if they must travel tomorrow.”

The National Weather Service has issued an updated winter storm warning for tomorrow's "significant winter storm" that calls for a another round of up to 8 inches of heavy snow, as well as one-quarter of an inch of ice.
The warning will go into effect midnight and run through to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The snow is expected to begin shortly after midnight and then mixing with with and changing over to sleet and freezing rain late Wednesday.
