Wind Chill Temps Could Drop to 20 Below

The National Weather Service has Stratford under a Hazardous Weather Outlook as wind chill temperatures are forecast to dip below zero Monday into Tuesday.

“There is a chance for wind chill temperatures around 25 degrees below zero from late Monday night into Tuesday morning,” the forecast states. “More likely is wind chill temperatures from 15 to 20 degrees below zero.”

The bitter cold stays in the area through the day Tuesday with a predicted high of only 17 degrees and wind chill values again below zero.

Monday: Showers, mainly before noon. Widespread dense fog before 9 a.m. Temperature rising to near 47 by 10 a.m., then falling to around 38 during the remainder of the day. West wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 11. Wind chill values as low as -3. Breezy, with a west wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 17. Wind chill values as low as -9. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

Tuesday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 5. West wind 11 to 18 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 25.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33.

Thursday night: A chance of snow. Cloudy, with a low around 26. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Friday: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
