Sarah is an active volunteer in various communities.

During the first week of the summer school vacation, Sarah volunteers at Kickstart, an affordable youth soccer program in Stratford’s south end. Approximately 70 children in kindergarten through 6th grade participate each year and learn basic soccer skills. During the 2010 summer, Sarah along with her twin sister Kaitlin and their friend Meagan Simon, became head counselors at the camp.

Every summer since 2008, Sarah (along with six other students and chaperones) has volunteered through the Volunteer Mission Youth Work Sleepover Camp volunteer program at . With a number of other church groups, the volunteers help at senior citizen homes, children’s camps, stocking food at food pantries, working in community gardens, etc in towns such as Lynn, MA (2010), Philadelphia, PA (2009), Newark, NY (2008), and the Adirondacks, NY (2011).

Sarah is also participating in the Sterling House fundraiser Plunge into Spring which will take place at Stratford’s Short Beach, and Green Sweep (May 7th) wherein Stratford Students pick up garbage in an area of Stratford.

In her free-time, Sarah is a sought-after babysitter.

Key to Awesomeness:
Sarah volunteers with a community of friends who all live in Lordship and participate in the annual summer volunteer programs. Her family has been supportive of all her pursuits, and her twin sister is her best friend.

At home, her bedroom inspires her. Her walls are different colors and she has painted her motto on one of them: “Everything happens for a reason.” This is both a creative outlet for Sarah and a source of inspiration.
