The was a great success.
We had about 10 new organ donor registrations handed in. (You must imagine how impressed and excited about Facebook's decision to put an option to display Donor Status on the Facebook pages!)
A lot of people took advantage of our inspirational guests from Donate Life, Dara and Dave, to ask just what it means and what it takes to become a living donor.
We had about 350 people come to the event, not including our special guests, Matias the Magician, Ariel (Mary of Stratford High School's ), Santa Claus, and McGruff the Crime Dog!
We would like to thank Chip's Pancake Restaurant and Marnicks for donating the supplies and time to cook at the event. We had Fairfield and and support as well, entertaining the kids with a demonstration and the big shiny firetruck, ambulance and school bus for them to climb all over.
We are so honored by the support and generosity from the community. This event has inspired another event, "Tumbling for Diane" that will be held at Next Dimension Gymnastics in Trumbull on June 2, 2012 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. where there will be open gym, face painting, inflatables, a rock wall, raffles and some more special guest surprises.
Di and I have also been given the opportunity to speak about our cause, and share the impact that Organ Donation can have, at Fairfield's Grace Methodist Church "Summer Fun Fest" at 10 a.m., June 2, where we will also have a booth to talk about Pediatric Liver Disease (Biliary Atresia) and Organ Donation and Di's cause.
The "Summer Fun Fest" will run from 9 to 6 p.m. at 1089 Fairfield Woods Road in Fairfield.
