Watch Out for Turtles in Stratford, Says Resident

Resident warns of a spike in turtle crossings by the airport.

A resident to contact Stratford Patch via our Facebook page on Sunday submitted the following message.

Please be careful when driving down Lordship Blvd. "Burma Rd." near the airport and marsh "Lewis's gut" area.

There are turtles trying to cross the road. Today when I left Long Beach I got out to help one in the middle of the road. Another driver stopped to help me but it was too late. The turtle was hit and his shell crushed.

I have seen numerous turtles this summer making the attempt to cross. Some make it with help from kind people driving down that road but most are not that lucky.
