Contest Could Net Animal Control $2K

Stratford photographer's favorite pet photo contest entry is vying for a cash prize to benefit the local shelter program.

Stratford resident Amy Mortensen had a request - to vote for her photo entry to benefit the Stratford animal shelter program.

The deadline was Monday for votes and Mortensen hoped for a late push of local votes.

A 30-year resident of Stratford, Mortensen's entry was a Top 10 finalist, she said.

"I entered the Spring Romp Animal Rescue Site pet photo contest and have been named a top 10 finalist.

"The grand prize is a $2000 grant for an animal shelter.

"I chose the Stratford Animal Control as the award recipient in the event my photo takes first place. The winner is chosen by public vote that concludes on Monday, April 25.

"I know that there has been a cut to an officer position from the Stratford Animal Control (of which there are currently 2 officers) and the $2000 grant would be beneficial to them and the program."
