Vicki Soto 5K to Close Stratford Roads Saturday

Affected roads will be closed 8 a.m. to noon.

The Stratford Police Department is conducting a planned road closure Saturday for the first annual Vicki Soto 5K.

The Lordship race is in honor of Victoria Soto, the Newtown teacher from Stratford who was slain in the school shooting on Dec. 14, 2012.

More than 2,100 people have registered and hundreds more are expected to attend, says event organizer James Wiltsie, Soto’s cousin.

Proceeds will benefit the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund, which was established in January to help local high school students pursue a career in teaching.

The route (available for download as a PDF above) starts on Main Street near Stanziale’s Restaurant and runs into Lordship before circling back.
