Stratford Homeowner Takes Down Nazi Flag

Joseph Sincavage says he never intended to offend anyone by displaying a Nazi flag in political protest of President Barack Obama and his policies.

“I never foresaw any of this,” Sincavage said Friday, the first day since Sunday the 74-year-old U.S. Marine veteran decided not to fly the flag bearing the swastika of Nazi Germany.

“It’s gone,” he said.

Sincavage said the flag caused “bad emotions” with both his Jewish and non-Jewish neighbors. It also created a traffic problem on the side street, he said. And at least one motorist drove by yelling obscenities.

“I never saw the unintended consequences,” Sincavage said.

A U.S. Marine Corps flag now flies in its place.
