Potholes: Where are They?

Today is the first day of spring, which means it's pothole season -- post here to let Public Works know where the worst are in your neighborhood.

Despite the fact that we had a virtually snow-free winter, the town's streets have still taken a beating over the last few months and with spring comes pothole season.

Potholes appear when the pavement cracks, moisture builds up in the crack and then freezes and thaws. It's a problem that any town really can't avoid.

Potholes can be a year-long problem but are especially noticable in the spring after streets are plowed and sanded over the winter. While the areas for the most part escaped severe winter weather, there still are sections of roads that look like they've been chewed up and are in need of repair.

One such area, reported by a Stratford resident on SeeClickFix.com, is between 123 and 197 Surf Ave. 'HUGE POTHOLE' reads the complaint. On the website, the resident said the pothole destroyed the car's tire and rim.

What are some other problem areas? Do you have bad potholes in your neighborhood?

Post the locations in the comments section below and if you can, snap a picture and upload it here too (but be safe while taking pictures!). Public Works can't fix what they aren't aware of, so a running list of potholes can help them locate problem spots.

And Happy Spring!
