Lordship: Live Here at Your Own Risk!

'Please slow down and let us enjoy our neighborhood too,' writes resident.

The following is a reader-submitted opinion post.

If you've ever tried walking, riding your bike or walking your dog in Lordship you know how dangerous it can be.
Living on Washington Parkway, the racetrack to Marnick's and the seawall, cars speeding down the street and blowing the stop sign is an everyday occurrence. This is an on-going problem and has been for years.

This Sunday it was a minivan with a family of 7 who "didn't see the stop sign." Today it was a woman on her cell phone who "didn't see it." How, I ask, can you not see a stop sign? What do they look like where you live?

Calling the police is useless. Asking for a patrol car to sit and monitor the area, we were told, "that would be entrapment." Really????

My point is that people come to our once quiet community and pay no attention to the fact that families live here. Those speeding to get to the seawall and Marnicks see it as a place to come eat, drink (at both places) and relax and forget that PEOPLE LIVE HERE!!!!!

We've been fortunate, no one has gotten hit by a car, YET! How long can the residents of Lordship luck out? It is bound to happen, not just on this street, but Lordship as a whole.

Please slow down and let us enjoy our neighborhood too.
