Candlelight Vigil for Sandy Hook Victims Tonight at Paradise Green

A local is organizing a candlelight vigil tonight for those affected by today's tragedy at a Newtown elementary school where a mass shooting claimed the lives of 27 people including 20 children.

A candlelight vigil is being organized for tonight at 7 p.m. at Paradise Green.

The idea comes from Danielle Noel Hawthorne, who posted the following message on the Stratford Patch Facebook page.

"I'd like to propose that we gather together at Paradise Green in Stratford tonight at 7PM to hold a candlelight vigil in prayer and support of all of the families affected by this morning's tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School."

Hawthorne said she's heading to Home Depot "and any place else I have to go, to buy as many candles as possible."

I just left the vigil and would like to thank Danielle Hawthorne for putting this together. It turned out to be a non political from the heart from the people vigil. As someone pointed out tonight not to forget the first responders in your prayers. Coming from someone who responded and worked at the Trade Center on 9-11 and is still dealing with the images burned into my head and the loss of 343 brother firefighters I don't think they are as bad as the ones the first responders will have to deal with from this incident. My thoughts and prayers go out to all that are affected by this cowardly, disheartening act. And for those that may witness my anger over this, I apologize. Be safe and God Bless.
