The Watermark at 3030 Park Announces Launch of Memory Loss Support Group

“CARES” designed for people living with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other forms of memory loss

The Watermark at 3030 Park is pleased to announce the launch of CARES, a monthly support group designed to help people, and their caregivers, who are living with memory loss issues such as Alzheimer’s or dementia. The first meeting will be held on Monday, March 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the senior living community, located at 3030 Park Avenue on the Bridgeport-Fairfield town line, and is free of charge and open to the public.

CARES will be led by Anne Denicola, a social worker from VITAS Innovative Hospice Care in Stratford. Each month’s meeting will feature a different topic related to memory loss in a safe, comfortable and supportive environment. March’s meeting will be an introduction to the support group, with participants sharing ideas for future meeting topics.

“Memory loss is an ever-present and increasing issue facing many seniors and their families,” said Edward Roman, Executive Director at The Watermark at 3030 Park. “Through our support groups, and through our memory care living community, we hope people in the Greater Bridgeport area will view The Watermark as an innovative expert and resource in the field of memory care.”

 

The Watermark is a regional leader in delivering memory care living options to seniors. The community features The Gardens, a small, individualized memory care residence that provides a high caregiver-to-resident ratio. The Gardens is led by Medical Director Dr. Rahul Gupta, an expert in geriatric care who also serves as an Assistant Professor for the Department of Medicine at Quinnipiac University; Chief of the Division of Geriatrics at St. Vincent’s Medical Center; Regional Medical Director at Amedysis Home Health Care; and a Partner Physician at Drs. Goldfarb, Ranno & Associates.

 

The Watermark also offers the Alzheimer’s Association Family Support Group, a support group for people caring for loved ones with memory loss. The next meeting of this group will be held on Wednesday, March 26 at 11:00 a.m.
