STRATFORD MAN SELECTED TO CHAIR THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY OF WEB TELEVISION

Los Angeles & New York—Stratford, CT resident, J. Sibley Law, was selected to chair the board of directors of the International Academy of Web Television last week. Law, who was a co-founder of the Shakespeare festival, now called Festival Stratford, on the grounds of Stratford’s historic theatre, has also served as Chair of the Stratford Arts Commission, where he helmed a project to create the first comprehensive catalog of the town’s theatre art. In his new role chairing a new media organization, Law serves with executives from Dailymotion, Sony, United Artists, and Yahoo as well as advertising executives and independent show creators, like himself.

Law, who has been a management consultant for more than a decade, has also created more than 20 independent digital series. He has been an Official Honoree of the Webby Awards and has a series premiering at the Independent Television & Film Festival, later this month. Locally, he has worked with Stratford Community Services to create a web series with local high school students that explores the pressure kids face to drink alcohol while underage. Additionally, he has worked with the organization to create a documentary that explores the stereotypes that kids and cops have toward each other and one way they have overcome them.

“This is a tremendous honor and a huge responsibility,” Law explained. “We have an extraordinary board of directors and I very much look forward to working with them to grow and nurture the membership as well as advancing the digital entertainment industry.”
