Councilman's take on DTC Snub

As current Democrat Councilman in the 4th District, I find it disingenuous that my name was "inadvertently" left off the current slate of endorsed Democrat Town Committee Members as stated by the Chairman Rich Buturla. If this was the case why not make a motion to amend and add me to the slate? It's clear the party wants to campaign on sound bites and quotes of bi-partisanship and working together but their true intention is partisan gridlock politics, the type we see in Washington. My party is still out to punish me for working in a true bi-partisan manner with my fellow council Republicans to do what's best for my district. With 8 Republicans and 2 Democrats what am I supposed to do?

The current Democrat Town Committee bylaws allow for the automatic membership of any democrat elected to council or state representative who lives in Stratford. So why would the committee go out of their way to change and “review” this particular section if it wasn’t for reprisal?

So let me lay it out for you. The Democrats nominate a slate of people “inadvertently” leaving me out but one that includes elected Councilwoman Stephanie Philips and State Rep Terry Backer. They claim they are still looking into their bylaws but are also waiting for a ruling from Democrat State Central on whether the provision that allows for the automatic membership of elected council members is valid and allowable. What they know is the ruling from state central will most likely come back that all members must be elected by caucus therefore washing their hands of having to change their bylaws to kick me off. If they don’t get this ruling they will amend their bylaws to remove the elected provision therefore kicking me off. This is exactly why they “inadvertently” left me off their list. They will try to spin this as an oversight but what this shows is the deceitful behavior of some members on the DTC and the lengths they will go to put politics before the people of Stratford.
