Want a liquor store on every corner in Stratford?
That's exactly what you will get if the Town Planning and Zoning Commission votes to approve a proposed amendment to liquor store zoning laws.
Current Stratford zoning laws prevent liquor stores from being within 1,500 feet of each other and from being within 200 feet of schools, churches and residential areas.
The proposed amendment to the zoning laws seeks to remove all distance requirements as they relate to liquor stores. Literally, a store could be placed across the street from a nursery school, and residents would have no legal zoning recourse to oppose it.
The zoning commission meets Tuesday, October 16, at 7 p.m. to vote on the matter.
