James F. Meehan, age 65, of Stratford, husband of the late Margaret (Connolly) Meehan, died on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Griffin Hospital.
Jim was born in Bridgeport to the late Frances and Bridget (Giblin) Meehan. He had been a teacher in the Bridgeport School System many years ago. Mr. Meehan was very involved in Stratford politics with the Republican party. He had a great love for Irish culture and had been a member of the Gaelic-American Club in Fairfield.
Jim had established Manor Ltd. and Fairfield Holdings to develop import and export trade between the United States and Ireland.
He is survived by three beloved children, James Meehan and his wife, Kayti of Stratford, Shauna Savary and her husband, Antoine of West Haven and Shane Meehan and his wife, Amanda of Milford; four grandchildren, Charles and Elizabeth Savary and Jeremiah and Nicholas Janney; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 9:15 a.m. in the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford and at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Church with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make donations in his memory to the charity of one's choice.
