Posting a bunch of anti-Rosa rants seems more indicative of the author's DeLauro OCD syndrome thanRead Morea nything of substance to post. Sorry, but we're seeing way too many of these posts by the same guy to take seriously.

It is a sad moment when our Republican Party decides to make their platform arguing over the sizeRead Moreof the wage gap between women and men in the job market instead of arguing FOR equalizing that difference. The "War on women" gets more traction every time guys like Schaefer open their mouths.

It's sad that people like RMK are so gullible or uninformed--or maybe part of the TAKERS?? TheyRead Morethi nk it's fine that self-serving Career Pols like DeLauro, H. Reid, Pelosi etc. ENRICH themselves with their corrupt Cronyism while they kill jobs and destroy our formerly Prosperous and Respected Nation.-------------------------- No one is convinced by your Obot parroting of propaganda, RMK--probably taking your daily marching orders from OFA, LOL!!

It's interesting how MAC singles out Democrats whenever he/she talks about corrupt cronyism andRead Morecare er pols. Tribal thinking is the new Republican party politics where projecting the worst elements of their own leadership is foisted onto to any and all opponents....most especially those who FoxNews has trained them to focus all their ire on: Reid, Pelosi, Clinton, Obama, etc. Here in CT it's Rosa, apparently. All you achieve with the constant postings and anti-Rosa blogs is to alert the thinking public of just how vitriolic and unseemly the Fox News era of hate-spew is affecting the state of this country. And if the parroting of baseless negativity isn't enough from the Tribe, we have to put up with the pre-eminent victimhood of the posters here who comment hatefully about Republican opponents, and then whine about being "attacked" by others who don't buy their vitriol. Honestly, grow up and disconnect from the Fox News sesspool.

This just made my day. Not only did I leave a comment that was thought out, nor did it have hisRead Morepoor language, but he DELETED IT. A journalist doesn't just delete all comments but his own. Perhaps no one reached out to him because no one wants to work with him. He should go work for Amy's Baking Company from Kitchen Nightmares...they would certainly be a pair.

Agreed Erin. He simply doesn't get it. On fact if you click on his blog you'll see something heRead Morewrot e about the dangers of losing free speech. (http://stratford.patch.com/groups/corey-sipes-blog/p/the-day-opposes-free-speech_4c2b86a6) Yep, the guy who censors his own blog by deleting user comments has whined about other people doing the exact same thing. He's a hypocrite of epic proportions and not a journalist in the least.

It should be noted that the Town has not decided to build a new high school at Longbrook Park butRead Morera ther a majority of the Board of Education has in fact voted to "recommend" to the town council that they consider the proposal. It would appear that several of the elected members of the Town Council are NOT in favor of this proposal and that the recommendation may in fact be rejected. Everyone concerned needs to stay vigilant regarding this issue. I fully agree that the Board of Education did not seek public input on such a major proposal and the way that the meeting was scheduled on 4 PM Friday when a significant majority of the residents were at work and unable to attend leaves the impression that the proposal was being hidden from public scrutiny. As the former Chairman of the Board of Education I believe they still have a long range planning committee which in the past has held public information sessions so I am at a loss as to why this was not done on this occasion. Also as the former Chairman of the Longbrook Park Commission I am in full agreement that this proposal is not in the best interests of the community as a whole and would result in irreversible damage to the Longbrook Park area and the residents of the neighborhood.

Its not an election year for local politicians. No one in Hartford or Washington cares about this.

But no one will comment on this because most o fthem are under-reporting thier incomes so that they Read Morecan get free breakfast and lunch for their kids at school. Sad, how easily people can be purchased to SHUT UP.

Really? How about pushing for universal healthcare instead of a Republican solution - which is what Read Morethe Affordable Healthcare Law is. I always love how conservatives clutch their pearls in feigned anguish over a law that THEIR party essentially wrote. The Heritage Foundation, Bob Dole and Mitt Romney are the brainchild of "Obamacare" and the law was created as the Republican alternative to single-payer. So NOW, after designing this thing, you only hear the right-wingers of the party (pretty much all of the Republican party, in other words) whining about Every. Single. Aspect. of the law. The Republican alternative to their own alternative is doing nothing, so there you go... Either push for single-payer, Christopher, or put a sock in it.
RMK March 31, 2014 at 01:45 PM
Tom, funny how you guys stress about the poor 'under-reporting' their incomes and say virtuallyRead MoreNOTH ING about the Romneys of the world who vastly under-report their income. We're talking a difference of oh, say 4000% in unreported income sitting offshore somewhere in a handsome vault on the Caymans. Yes, let's instead follow the Fox News shiny keys of distraction and whine about those 'inner-city' types robbing you blind. Sheesh.
RMK April 16, 2014 at 05:40 PM
Once again you rant without a solution. Don't you get tired of the negativity? Sure, call it aRead More&quot ;personal attack", but the reality is the world is sick of whiners who opportunistically spread BS to disenfranchise voters from going to the polls at election time. It won't work, even with a low voter turnout for DeLauro's district. That's what happens when you target a popular official with thinly veiled bigoted slurs and have nothing but an anti-Obamacare tea partier running against her. Hang it up, folks. You're tiring and offensive.

Delauro is a corrupt career politician (whose BFF is Joelle Fishman, head of the Communist party in Read MoreCT) who needs to be retired!!!---------------------------------------------------------------- While she has gotten rich, PRETENDING that she cares about them, the average American is getting poorer, making it harder and harder for those still working to carry the LOAD of all the FREELOADERS!!...................................................................... THE PROBLEM---------------------------------------------------------- The folks who are getting free stuff, Don’t like the folks who are paying for the free stuff, Because the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff. And, the folks who are paying for the free stuff want the free stuff to stop. And the folks who are getting the free stuff, Want even MORE free stuff on top of the free stuff they’re getting already! Now… The people who are forcing people to PAY for the free stuff, Have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff, That the people who are PAYING for the free stuff, Are being mean, prejudiced and racist. So …. the people who are GETTING the free stuff, Have been convinced they need to HATE the people who are PAYING for the free stuff because they are selfish. And they are promised more free stuff if they will vote for the people who force the people who pay for the free stuff to give them even more free stuff.

It's great that Sodexo employs so many Stratford residents-but since when does that define theRead Morevalue of a company overall? If a better , more efficient and worthwhile company can be found-residents jobs shouldn't be the main concern. The students and their health & food choices should be paramount. Sodexo continues to refuse to provide nutritional values and healthy options . I know. My son is a diabetic who counts carbs and hasn't been able to eat in the high school cafeteria for 4 years because of the lack of labeling. 59 taxpayers versus 7,500 students? That's a no brainer. You choose what's best for the students. Maybe it's time for Sodexo to go. I'm sure the new company will need staff too.
Tommy MacKay March 19, 2014 at 09:20 PM
@ Meg re: "I know a lot of Cafe workers in the schools would not want to work for any otherRead Morecom pany!" Than that's your choice. Don't make it the students responsibility to keep your current employer!
Paul Talbot March 19, 2014 at 10:58 PM
I write this with a years of experience in working in Public Schools all over New England...WhileRead Morewe ll written, the letter lacks facts. Other food service service companies simply do not have 59 people waiting to work as Food Service Employees in Stratford. The fact is that most, if not all of the workers would be retained and often would be provided with a pay INCREASE with another food service provider. Wouldn't this benefit the 59 employees AND the community in which they live? Furthermore, other food companies work with (and well) with the Union 217. That said, shouldn't the Boards decision not be based on personal relationships with people and companies, but rather what is in the best interest of the 7500 students? If the STUDENTS and PARENTS are satisfied with the job that Sodexo provides and innovations they have proven during the contract, than they should remain. However, Sodexo should not remain if this not the case. If that means another company can provide better programs both nutritionally and financially that have been proven, isn't it the responsibility of the board to do whats best for the student body, not the 59 workers? Quite frankly, the Stratford School Department is in the business of education, not food service, not transportation and not custodial services. This is onb eof the main reasons the public sector (k12 districts in particular) lags behind the private (business and higher ed), because they refrain from making tough and difficult, but correct business decisions that have a short and long term benefit to their core focus. Change is usually difficult and can come with some unknowns, but to not seriously consider and research better school support programs because of casual 'threats' such as this letter, the school board and school administration is doing a disservice to the 7500 students and 50,000 residents of this town. A much larger concern than a brief inconvience to 59 people.
