Fundraising and Shooting Hoops at St. Marks School
St. Theresa's of Trumbull dominated the Annual St. Mark's Walter E. Wright Jr. Memorial Basketball Tournament this year.
From Feb. 21 to March 12, 28 teams participated in the Walter E. Wright Jr. Memorial Basketball Tournament at St. Mark Parish in Stratford.
Coaches of age group teams (3rd to 8th graders) from six divisions, signed up and competed in this tournament. Held annually, the tournament is open to any team from any town who wants to participate in this fun month-long fundraising event. Teams from all over Connecticut and even a New York entry took part in this year’s tournament.
Tom Kulhawik, tournament director, said that the players have “dedicated weekdays and weekends to the success of this tournament.”

The Annual Walter E. Wright Jr. Memorial Basketball Tournament is a major fundraiser for the St. Mark’s parish and school. Throughout the tournament a number of raffles are held to increase the fundraising efforts. All funds are given to the St. Mark Parish and School to support the basketball program and maintain the facilities.
The tournament is made possible through the tireless dedication of the St. Mark’s Men’s League along with the coaches, parents and parishioners of the community.

Walter E. Wright Jr. devoted much of his time as a coach to the children and community of Stratford through the St. Mark Parish and The Sterling House Community Center. He was a beloved friend of the community and of the parish.
After weeks of competition, the results were as follows:
